The areas of the Pass
9 areas for a new kind of museum.
The Pass is an unusual place which invites you to discover the role of science and technology in our society in an active and entertaining way.
It is located in Frameries, near Mons, in Belgium, on the stunning site of a listed former colliery. Jean Nouvel saved several colliery buildings from demolition, and sought inspiration from the mine's operation to give the site back its initial dimensions, creating a park made up of nine spaces which combines 12,000 m² (130,000 sq.ft.) of exhibitions and shows with a garden covering 28 hectares (69 acres) - something to excite everyone's curiosity.
In the Garden of Adventures, you will come across the scientific observatories, the pond and the slag heap...
The Pass'erelle houses the "A talent for learning" exhibition. The Children's Street contains the exhibitions "Portraits", "Finishing Touch" and the Building Site-Garage project. In the Belvedere are the exhibition "Story Loft"and "Our landscapes". The panoramic lift will take you to the top of the Pit-Head Frame.
