A museum of "science-friction"

To carry out the founding aims of the Pass, "it was necessary to invent an original place to assist in transmitting and passing on information; an interdisciplinary place to assist its visitors in understanding the world in all its complexity, and the social, technological and economic changes which make up our daily lives. A place to give young and old alike a new taste for the scientific approach, the pleasure of surprise, the sense of asking questions, alerting the mind and making the mind alert, opening the eyes of intelligence, which are not used solely for accumulating facts."

Today, the Pass offers its visitors exhibitions and shows which encourage them to take an active part in their own discoveries, developing their knowledge and their skills. The media used appeal simultaneously to the emotions, the intellect and the desire to play; they cover the daily, familiar but changing aspects of science and technology, encouraging visitors to form their own opinions on the basis of reliable information - the idea of civic knowledge, which is not taught but rather lived, arising from experience.
